
Jim Perry is a retired investigator from the Greenville County Sheriff's Office and a pioneering leader in the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit, which he helpe spearhead in 2004 as its sole investigator. Through his vision and dedication, the unit grew into a fully staffed team of specialized investigators focused on protecting children from exploitation. Over the course of his career, Jim developed deep expertise in digital forensics and firsthand knowledge of the complex, time-intensive work required to uncover critical electronic evidence. Now serving as a proud member of the Board of Angels for Defenders For Children, Jim brings invaluable insight and advocacy to the organization’s mission. He is a passionate champion for the use of Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) K9s, recognizing them as an essential investigative resource that helps law enforcement uncover hidden devices often missed during searches. His experience and leadership continue to shape efforts that strengthen investigative capabilities, support law enforcement, and ultimately help protect children and bring offenders to justice.
